You’ve probably seen the symbol for the RSS feed on many of the websites, but what does it actually do?
Librarians talk about RSS feeds often, and until recently, I was in the dark about what an RSS feed actually is. RSS, really simple syndication, is a great tool for doing research, because it allows you to stay up to date on a topic that interests you.
For example, I recently subscribed to the RSS feed of the NYT Well Blog. Every time a new blog post is published, I get an email from the NYT in my RSS folder in my email. The New York Times, has many RSS feeds to which you can subscribe.
If you have an environmental interest, check out ELRS, Environmental Law Research Sources. This collection of over 500 websites are selected by Christine Ryan, our Environmental Law Librarian, and arranged by category. This is a great way to find a source on your topic of interested, and an RSS feed.
